MLS Fantasy Advice: Forget Round 20, managers trolling transfer market for Round 21 doubles

TRANSFER DEADLINE: Wednesday, 10:30 pm ET

The transfer market tells us crazy things sometimes. This week, it suggests that while the Montreal Impact are the only team benefiting from a double-game week in Round 20, most MLS Fantasy owners are directing their focus toward Round 21.

In the table below, you'll notice that the top five transfers in so far this round are all from different teams and that none ply their trade in Montreal. Furthermore, four of the top five are midfielders, with Real Salt Lake's Joao Plata the only forward listed.

Player Position Selected Price Total Score Transfers IN
Seattle Sounders FC Clint Dempsey MID 17.0% $10.5 78 702
Sporting Kansas City Benny Feilhaber MID 11.5% $8.3 100 659
LA Galaxy Gyasi Zardes MID 7.5% $6.7 65 559
Colorado Rapids Dillon Powers MID 6.0% $8.0 89 525
Real Salt Lake Joao Plata FWD 16.5% $7.4 83 508

A few of these moves were made for next week, a week that will see seven teams benefit from DGWs as opposed to just one. Preparing your lineup this week with players that will see two games next week will give you an additional two moves – once Round 20 begins, of course – to use on DGW candidates.

DOUBLE GAME WEEKS IN ROUND 21

  • D.C. United – vs TOR, at HOU
  • Toronto FC – at DC, at MTL
  • Colorado Rapids – at NE, vs RSL
  • New England Revolution – vs COL, at NY
  • Chicago Fire – vs VAN, vs CLB
  • Real Salt Lake – vs NY, at COL
  • New York Red Bulls – at RSL, vs NE

I've already started planning for the future by using my two transfers this week to pick up midfielders Dillon Powers and Lee Nguyen. (See below)
