That Chicago Fire vs. Seattle Sounders match from Saturday had the MLS Disciplinary Committee working overtime this week.

And we're not talking about the Obafemi Martins red card.

A number of other sanctions were issued as a result of actions in the June 7 match at Toyota Park:

  • The Chicago Fire received a warning for their first violation of the mass confrontation policy in the 7th and 42nd minutes;
  • The Seattle Sounders and head coach Sigi Schmid were fined for their second violation of the mass confrontation policy in the 7th and 42nd minutes;
  • Fire players Benji Joya and Gonzalo Segares were fined an undisclosed amount for instigating and escalating the incident in the 7th minute (VIDEO);
  • Fire defender Jhon Kennedy Hurtado was fined an undisclosed amount for failing to leave the field in an orderly manner after his 37th minute red card (VIDEO);
  • Seattle's Martins was fined an undisclosed amount for failing to leave the field in an orderly manner after receiving his 42nd minute red card (VIDEO);
  • Fire midfielder Jeff Larentowicz was fined an undisclosed amount for hands to the face/head of Seattle's Gonzalo Pineda in the 98th minute (VIDEO).

So plenty of fines, but no additional suspensions handed down. That was reserved for Colorado Rapids midfielder Dillon Serna.

The youngster was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount "for serious foul play that endangered the safety of FC Dallas midfielder Victor Ulloa" in the 18th minute of the Saturday match at Toyota Stadium.
