Will Edson Buddle get career goal No. 100 against the San Jose Earthquakes?

With his goal on Saturday against Toronto, Colorado Rapids forward Edson Buddle moved within one goal of joining the exclusive 100 goal club in MLS. If he finally hits that mark, he would be the eighth player to score 100 goals in MLS and would sit just one behind Taylor Twellman for seventh all-time.

Going by Buddle’s history, the historic goal has a decent shot of happening in his next game, when the Rapids take on the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday. Buddle has scored goals in 77 different games throughout his career, and 35 percent of the time he has been able to score in his next game as well. In short, the man is used to scoring goals in bunches.

Looking at the Rapids' next opponent should also give Buddle some hope. He's scored nine goals in 18 career games against San Jose, his second-highest strike rate among teams he's faced at least 10 times in his carer behid Real Salt Lake (10 goals in 16 games).

Other notes:

• In their last two games the Sounders have scored four goals in the last 15 minutes, lifting them to a draw against Portland a win over FC Dallas. That's a stunning trend reversal for the Sounders, as only three teams since 2010 have scored a smaller percentage of their goals in the final 15 minutes of a game.

• We all know how dangerous a threat is when Marco Di Vaio is on the ball. He likely would have won the Golden Boot last year had he been taken the penalties for the Impact. He was able to do this partly because he was second in MLS in shots, averaging 3.6 per game. This year he is off to an even more auspicious start. Di Vaio leads MLS with 22 shots (he's scored one goal) despite playing in just three games, and his 22 shots over three games is the most he has had over any three-game stretch in his MLS career, with 19 being his previous high.
