Why aren't Clint Dempsey, Mauro Diaz and Quincy Amarikwa on your team? | MLS Fantasy Advice
In Round 5 of MLS Fantasy Manager, the high score skyrocketed to a whopping 102 points as 19 players tallied double-digit scores and Seattle Sounders Designated Player Clint Dempsey finally lived up to the hype (18 points vs. the Portland Timbers).
Federico Higuaín was the most-captained player in Round 5, but the Argentine failed to deliver this week. Here's the Monday recap, along with the top nine scorers to start the season and the top transfers both in and out.
Let us know how you did in the comment section below.
- Games (9): 31 goals, 5 clean sheets
- Top Player(s): Clint Dempsey
- Highest Score: 102 points (The Picnic Club)
- Average Score: 39 points
- Most-Captained: Federico Higuain
- Dream Team: Round 5
FC Dallas playmaker Mauro Díaz leads all players with 41 total points after five rounds. Diaz and teammate Chris Seitz make up one of the top three duos in MLS Fantasy to start the season. Real Salt Lake and the Seattle Sounders own the other two.
Clint Dempsey made up some huge ground this week. After a stellar performance against Portland, he's now part of a select group of players who have 30-plus points. His 30 points in 214 minutes is the best rate of any player, and with an average of 10 points per game, he's going to be added by many over the next week or two (see below).
Top Transfers (IN)
Diaz has been solid all season, but somehow he's still only owned by 20 percent of managers. What are you waiting for? Add him now. He's the real deal.
The haters were quick to judge Dempsey last season, but so far in 2014 he's proving them all wrong. All aboard the Dempsey bandwagon? Seattle have two games in Round 10, so if you don't have him yet, consider adding him before Round 10 (just beware his price could climb before then).

Top Transfers (OUT)
Jermain Defoe, who was once the most-added player and the most-captained player in the game, is now the most-dropped player in MLS Fantasy, too. Injuries change everything.
David Horst had a great run to start the season but, same as with injuries, walk off under a red card and fantasy owners will turn on you. I'm not sure why people would offload Horst now, though. With double weeks coming up in Rounds 8, 10 and 12 for Houston, Horst should be on every manager's radar. Sell him now and it'll cost you a lot more to add him back later on.
