New York Red Bulls Homegrown product Amando Moreno (pictured left) has become the latest MLS player to try his luck south of the border.

The 18-year-old forward announced Wednesday via his Instagram account that he had joined the American contingent at Club Tijuana, complete with a photo of him wearing Xolos gear:

On Wednedsay afternoon, New York Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh issued the following statement regarding Moreno's move: "Amando was out of contract and decided recently to decline our offer to stay with the club. He and his agent chose to take this other opportunity."

Moreno, 18, signed with the Red Bulls in December 2012 out of the club's academy. The US youth international made his MLS debut in the second game of the 2013 season, but only played two minutes in two substitute appearances last year in league play. He most recently featured in the team's 2-1 preseason win over the Philadelphia Union.

The signing makes Moreno just the latest MLS player to head to Liga MX in the offseason, following the transfers of Rafael Baca and Michael Farfan and the loan of Jose Villarreal to Cruz Azul, the protracted transfer of Camilo to Queretaro, and the loan of Gabriel Farfan to Chiapas FC.

It would also represent the most recent acquisition of an American by Tijuana, as the club already boasts Herculez Gomez, Joe Corona, Edgar Castillo, Greg Garza and Paul Arriola on their first team.
