Report: Stoke City spurn "cheeky inquiry" from Sunderland for Geoff Cameron
Geoff Cameron's sturdy play for Stoke City drew the attention of at least one club before the end of the winter transfer window, but the inquiry was not deemed serious enough.
According to a report from Stoke daily The Sentinel, Sunderland reached out to Stoke to look into the possibility of acquiring Cameron on Friday. The Potters, however, spurned the Black Cats' interest, considering Cameron too important a part to their cause.
NBC ProSoccerTalk's Joe Prince-Wright also confirmed that Sunderland had made a play for Cameron:

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a strong campaign for 16th-placed Stoke. He has started each of the 22 league games he has played in and scored one goal.
Looking to snap a three-game losing streak in league play, Cameron and Stoke will continue their battle against relegation when they welcome Manchester United on Saturday.
