Rumor Central: Multiple reports claim Jermaine Jones is headed to Besiktas in Turkey

US national team boss Jurgen Klinsmann was right: Jermaine Jones looks to be staying in Europe.

Despite rumors of a potential move to MLS, multiple reports from Turkey and Germany claim that the US national team midfielder is moving from Schalke 04 to Turkish giants Besiktas before the close of the European winter transfer window on Friday. It's not clear just yet whether it's a loan or a permanent deal.

In Turkey, the word is that the deal will be sealed on Thursday when Jones will undergo his medical.

It would mark the fifth club in Jones's professional career. Two stints at Eintracht Frankfurt bookended a short stay at Bayer Leverkusen and in 2007 he joined Schalke 04, who loaned him out briefly to Blackburn Rovers in England in 2011.

Jones logged action in 14 Bundesliga matches and five UEFA Champions League matches for Schalke during the current season. His contract with the club was set to expire at season's end.

Besiktas are in fourth place in the Turkish Süper Lig, 14 points behind first-place Fenerbahçe. It's the only competition remaining for Besiktas after they were knocked out of the Turkish Cup and received a Europa League ban for match-fixing allegations despite qualifying to the group stage of the competition.
