A 22 year-old former trialist in Major League Soccer has died following a series of health problems stemming from a heart attack in September.

Akeem Adams – who trialed with the Seattle Sounders in 2010 and appeared in an international friendly for the club against Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara at CenturyLink Field – passed away in Budapest on Monday after suffering a brain hemorrhage.

Adams had been hospitalized in Hungary since he suffered a heart attack during a match with popular local side Ferencvaros on Sept. 22. He also had his left leg amputated in October as a result of the heart attack.

Adams made nine appearances for Trinidad & Tobago's national team - including four during the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying group stage in 2012 - and started three matches for the Caribbean country at the Under-20 World Cup played in Egypt in 2009 (above).

He logged 45 minutes of action in Seattle’s 3-1 win over Chivas on Oct. 12, 2010, coming on at halftime for defender Tyson Wahl.
