Another new direction: Chivas USA part ways with sporting president Dennis te Kloese
GUADALAJARA, Mexico – CD Guadalajara and Chivas USA sporting president Dennis te Kloese left the institution on Monday after less than a year on the job.
“Dennis te Kloese has left his post,” read a brief press statement from the Guadalajara club on Monday. “Club Deportivo Guadalajara SA de CV thanks Dennis te Kloese for his effort and professionalism in this period of a year as Chivas sporting president.”
Te Kloese was hired on Christmas Eve 2012, weeks after Johan Cruyff was sacked as an advisor to the institution.
The Dutchman vowed to strengthen links between the Guadalajara and Los Angeles clubs in order to improve the MLS franchise, but both teams have suffered a disappointing 12 months, with Chivas USA finishing last in the Western Conference and Guadalajara winning just five Liga MX games all year.
There has been no immediate word from the institution on whether te Kloese will be replaced and what will be the next move for Chivas USA in terms of naming a sporting director and new head coach.
Francisco Palencia was hired as director of soccer for the institution back in March this year, but it was announced in November that he would be dealing exclusively with the Guadalajara branch.
