Are Real Salt Lake the favorites to take home the 2013 MLS Cup? | Fantasy Chatter

NOTE: Transfer deadline for MLS Cup is Saturday, December 7 at 3:45 pm ET!

With less than a week left until Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake battle it out in the MLS Cup 2013 (Saturday, 4 pm ET, ESPN, UniMas, TSN2/RDS in Canada), you'll want to start giving some thought as to which players to bring in.

My advice is that you stick with your gut feeling this week. Pick a winner, predict a score line and then set up your formation accordingly. You have six free transfers this round, so use them wisely.

Here are the top transfers at each position for MLS Cup...

Goalkeepers

Team Player Selected Price Total Score Transfers IN
Real Salt Lake Nick Rimando 17.4% $6.2 169 625
Sporting Kansas City Jimmy Nielsen 18.0% $5.7 170 621

You only have two choices at keeper this week and across the board it couldn't be much closer. For those concerned about price, Nielsen is clearly the cheaper option at $0.5m less.

Defenders

Team Player Selected Price Total Score Transfers IN
Real Salt Lake Nat Borchers 11.9% $5.0 147 746
Real Salt Lake Chris Schuler 9.6% $5.1 112 529
Sporting Kansas City Matt Besler 18.8% $5.9 144 515
Sporting Kansas City Seth Sinovic 10.3% $5.8 165 495
Sporting Kansas City Chance Myers 7.6% $5.0 138 315

After an impressive showing in the Western Conference Championship against Portland at JELD-WEN Field, Nat Borchers is by far the most-added defender thus far.

Do you think RSL can pull off a similar result at Sporting Park?

Midfielders

Team Player Selected Price Total Score Transfers IN
Real Salt Lake Kyle Beckerman 15.4% $8.4 140 1,139
Sporting Kansas City Benny Feilhaber 7.2% $7.4 113 1,011
Real Salt Lake Ned Grabavoy 7.7% $6.6 137 616
Real Salt Lake Javier Morales 20.0% $9.1 202 468
Real Salt Lake Luis Gil 6.0% $6.8 102 409

No Graham Zusi? Not quite.

The US national team midfielder is already owned by more than 41 percent of fantasy owners (most in MLS) so you won't see him high on this list anytime soon.

More shocking is the fact that owners are investing in RSL's midfield more than SKC.

Forwards

Team Player Selected Price Total Score Transfers IN
Real Salt Lake Robbie Findley 8.9% $7.1 87 745
Sporting Kansas City C.J. Sapong 6.2% $8.4 84 664
Sporting Kansas City Dominic Dwyer 3.4% $6.2 51 488
Sporting Kansas City Claudio Bieler 11.3% $8.0 118 279
Real Salt Lake Joao Plata 7.2% $6.2 99 269

After scoring another goal in the away leg of the Western Conference Championship, Robbie Findley is the most popular forward for the second straight round.

When C.J. Sapong scores, Sporting KC are undefeated (17-0-2). Can he and Dom Dwyer break through RSL's backline and help SKC win MLS Cup? Only time will tell.

Who do you think is a must-add this week? Can RSL shut out SKC at Sporting Park? Tell us in the comments.
