Report: Tab Ramos gets new deal as United States Under-20 national team coach

US Under-20 national team coach Tab Ramos looks to be staying right where he is, and he'll be getting a few extra responsibilities while he's at it.

According to a report Saturday from ESPNFC.com, Ramos has been signed to a new, four-year contract that will see him both stay on as the U-20 coach and take up the role of U.S. Soccer's youth technical director. He will replace Claudio Reyna in the latter role, after Reyna was named director of football at MLS expansion team New York City FC in May.

Ramos, a former US international and World Cup veteran, has managed the US U-20s since 2011. He guided them to a runner-up finish in the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, though the team struggled in the U-20 World Cup, failing to advance from a difficult group that contained Spain, eventual champions France, and semifinalists Ghana.

If true, that would put an end for now to speculation linking Ramos to any of the head-coaching vacancies currently in MLS.

U.S. Soccer declined to comment on the report when contacted by MLSsoccer.com.
