Their season just ended less than three days ago, but D.C. United are not wasting any time making moves.

The club on Wednesday announced it has declined the contract options on three players: forwards Lionard Pajoy, Carlos "El Pescadito" Ruiz and midfielder Marcelo Saragosa.

“We would like to thank Lio, Marcelo and Carlos for their service to the club, and we wish them the best of luck in the future,” D.C. United general manager Dave Kasper said in a club statement.

The 31-year-old Saragosa and 34-year-old Ruiz, the MLS MVP in 2002, could get picked up by other MLS teams in the Re-Entry Draft in December.

Ruiz and Pajoy were not able to help a sputtering D.C. attack that scored a league low 22 goals in 34 matches. Pajoy, who scored two goals in 2013, made just two appearances in the club's final 13 matches and Ruiz, who never scored for the Black-and-Red, last played in a regular-season match on July 20.

D.C. United, who captured the 2013 US Open Cup, finished the 2013 regular season at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with just 16 points and three wins, an all-time league low for victories.
