Report: US men's national team to play friendly vs. Scotland at Hampden in November
The US men's national team has its focus on qualifying for next year's FIFA World Cup in Brazil, but they may have a trip overseas this fall in an international friendly before the calendar year is up, according to a report.
The Scotland Herald reported Sunday that the Scottish FA and national team manager Gordon Strachan are close to announcing a friendly with the US in November at Hampden.
A little more than a year ago, the US hosted Scotland -- a nation that has no FIFA World Cup aspirations after being eliminated from contention already -- in Jacksonville, Fla., and blasted them to the tune of a 5-1 scoreline, led by Landon Donovan's hat trick. Friendly or not, it's a loss surely Scotland would like to repay.
U.S. Soccer did not immediately respond to requests for a comment on the report.
