American Exports: Terrence Boyd drawing interest from several clubs across Europe
AMSTERDAM — Rapid Vienna goal shark Terrence Boyd is attracting widespread interest in England's top two flights and on the continent, MLSsoccer.com has learned via multiple sources, but none of the admirers has moved past the flirtation stage.
A source close to the situation not only confirmed a weekend Sky Sports report that Championship side Watford had registered interest with Rapid, but also that multiple Premier League clubs had recently done the same.
However, the Green-Whites are in no mood to negotiate over Boyd and none of the interested parties have pressed the issue with an offer. The source intimated that Rapid view the US international, who has already notched three goals and an assist in their first four matches of the campaign, as vital to their season hopes.
Meanwhile, MLSsoccer.com has also learned that Coppa Italia champions Lazio have Boyd on a short list of potential strike targets prepared in case Libor Kozák is sold during this window. A source close to the Biancoceleste revealed that PSV Eindhoven's Tim Matavz would be the top replacement choice, while the American is seen as a more cost-effective solution.
Boyd, who was rested during Rapid's weekend derby win at Sturm Graz, is expected back in action when they take a 1-1 aggregate tally to Greece for their Europa League third qualifying-round decider at Asteras Tripolis on Thursday.
