American Exports: Alonso Hernandez helps Monterrey salvage a point deep into stoppage time

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Alonso Hernandez was the only Yank to see action in the Liga MX this past weekend, but he made his minutes count.

With Monterrey down 1-0 in the closing minutes to Puebla, the U-20 World Cup veteran came off the bench in the 82nd minute and was on the field when Los Rayados equalized deep into second half injury time.

In the second-division Ascenso MX, Sonny Guadarrama went 79 minutes on Friday in Necaxa’s 3-0 victory over a Lobos BUAP side that didn’t include midfielder Marco Vidal.

Ventura Alvarado was not in Necaxa’s match-day squad.

For Dorados de Sinaloa, Jesus Padilla was a second-half substitute in the club’s 1-1 draw with Ballenas Galeana.

Down in Brazil, Freddy Adu’s struggle for playing time continued this weekend as the 24-year-old missed out on a spot in the 18 for Bahia’s 2-1 victory over Goiás on Sunday in the Brasileirão.

Adu has featured in just fives games since joining Bahia from the Philadelphia Union in March and has less than an hour's playing time in total.
