American Exports: Steve Clark heroic in goal despite loss in Norway
AMSTERDAM – Steve Clark and 10-man Hønefoss were edged out at home on Friday night, dropping a tough 2-1 decision to Vålerenga.
The Michigan native could have been overrun in goal, as the visitors logged 32 shots and 12 on target after Hønefoss midfielder Pål Erik Ulvestad got his marching orders in just the fourth minute.
However, Clark made eight of his 10 saves in keeping the game scoreless until former New York Red Bull Jan Gunnar Solli broke the ice on 41 minutes.
Now winless in five, Hønefoss will fall into the danger zone if either IK Start or Lillestrøm win this weekend.
