Rumor Central: Reinforcements for DC United, Portland Timbers, Chicago Fire? | THE SIDELINE
As Major League Soccer's summer transfer window quickly approaches — July 9 is the opening day — the Internet rumors and reports will start to come faster and with greater frequency. Wednesday has been no exception to that rule, with three early afternoon reports of signing targets for three different MLS teams.
First up, was this tweet by FutbolMLS.com's Emmanuel Quispe about a young Argentine forward that could be headed to the Portland Timbers:

Moving from South America to Europe, one of the under the radar transfer rumors that has been going on for some time now is the one linking 37-year-old Spanish defender Sergio Ballesteros to the Chicago Fire. That's a story from Spanish newspaper giant Marca, which typically has a pretty good sense of what's going on involving most teams in La Liga.
Ballesteros (above) is reported to be out of contract with Levante and looking to make one last move before he ends his playing career. Marca cites Ballesteros as a veteran replacement for the recently retired Arne Friedrich.
Lastly, we have a report from German newspaper giant Bild that claims D.C. United will look to a German right back to solidify their leaky defense:
Bild says former Bayern player Andreas Görlitz will leave Ingolstadt to sign for D.C. United.

Görlitz played sparingly for Bayern early in the last decade, making 18 appearances for the first team and 21 for the club's Bayern Munich II side. Since then he's made a decent career for himself, becoming a regular for Ingolstadt, where he was coincidentally teammates with current Colorado Rapids forward Edson Buddle.
While none of these rumored signings are of the Designated Player variety, or are even going to move the needle too much, quality MLS players can be on free transfers in the summer window. Are these three signings that the fanbases of their respective clubs would welcome once July 9 rolls around?
