Over the weekend, the NBC Sports Network broadcast 90 minutes of brand new Major League Soccer lifestyle television programming. That's the premier of three original episodes of MLS television in the span of three days. Don't spoil us now, NBC Sports.
In 2012, NBCSN debuted a fantastic show called MLS 36, where a video crew follows a star player for one team around the league for the 36 hours leading up to a big game. That program returned last week with the 2013 debut, featuring LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez. Furthermore, NBCSN announced an additional new show last week, MLS Insider, a magazine-story style television series hosted by Emmy Award-winning director Jonathan Hock.
MLS Insider debuted on Friday night, featuring stories about Tim Cahill, Robbie Rogers and Philadelphia Union supporters group, the Sons of Ben:
This weekend also provided a double dose — or even a triple dose — of MLS 36 as three players were featured across two episodes of the in-depth show. First up, on Friday night were Sporting Kansas City defenders Matt Besler and Aurélien Collin:
