CARSON, Calif. – Midfielder Gabriel Farfan has not been at Chivas USA for long since his mid-May trade from the Philadelphia Union, but he’s already eyeing another possible move within the organization.

When asked if he would be open to an opportunity with sister club Guadalajara, as it appears fellow San Diego native Eric Avila is getting, Farfan told MLSsoccer.com he’d have high interest.

“It’s my dream to play in Mexico,” Farfan said. “It’s where my family is from and, obviously, that’s what I’m working towards.”

Sporting president Dennis te Kloese indicated last week that Avila and 19-year-old Giovani Casillas were bound for Guadalajara after they impressed the Chivas staff during training last week. Casillas has been on loan from Guadalajara, along with forward Julio Morales, midfielders Edgar Mejía and Martin Ponce, and defender Mario de Luna.

“It’s great that there’s a communication between the two sides,” Farfan said. “Obviously, a lot of guys from here would love to go out there and I’m sure a lot of guys from there would love to be in MLS. As far as the players here, it gives us motivation to have that chance to either train with them when they’re here in preseason or to go out there indefinitely.”

Avila embraced several Chivas USA teammates as he walked toward the Guadalajara bus following Sunday’s inter-organizational scrimmage. Guadalajara defeated Chivas USA, 1-0, on Erick “Cubo” Torres’ second-half goal assisted by Avila.

The Goats acquired Farfan in exchange for their first natural SuperDraft pick in 2014 and allocation money. He has taken one shot in 194 minutes with the Rojiblancos and his last goal came in 2011.
