Check out Fireside Magazine — the Official Chicago Fire Digital Magazine | THE SIDELINE
One of the coolest things about picking up a magainze at the newsstand and thumbing through it during your weekly train rides used to be the magainze designers and layout specialists who could splice together visually stunning works of photo journalism and great sportswriting all on the same pages. It was an actual form of art on paper (gasp!) to hold in your hand and admire.
Those days are all but gone now, but we are seeing is the birth of the digital magazine — an online publication with magazine style writing and great photo spreads, all without the waste of paper and ink, or waiting for the mailman to finally deliver.
The Chicago Fire digital folks have released the first edition of their brand new digital magazine, Fireside, this week and it's definitely worth checking out.
In the first edition of Fireside, you will find 48 pages of great soccer club content right at your fingertips. The first edition features five full-length articles on everything Chicago, from Patrick Nyarko's "African Journey" to the complete history of soccer in Chicago, and what certain players are listening to on those big, bulky headphones as they enter the stadium on game day.
A hearty "great job" and "well done" to everyone involved with making Fireside a reality. Great visuals wrapped around some even better soccer writing from the Chicago-Fire.com staff.
Major League Soccer announced its first venture into the digital magazine industry, OVERLAP, in April. The only question is this: how do they deliver those full-page cologne samples in a digital magazine?
