Can you really go back again?

That's the question Tuesday afternoon in New York after a report from BigAppleSoccer.com cited team sources saying that prodigal son Amado Guevara wants to return to the Red Bulls — and then retire with them.

“Amado would like to come back and retire with New York,” the team source told the website. “He’d like to play here again.”

Guevara, the league MVP in 2004, spent four years (2003-06) with the MetroStars and Red Bulls, before eventually moving on to Chivas USA in the 2007 season. The 37-year-old last played in MLS in 2009, when he worked in midfield for Toronto FC.

The former Honduran international, who scored 29 times in 137 caps for his country between 1994 and 2010, has spent the last four seasons with Motagua in his home country. He suited up 117 times in all competitions for New York, scoring 39 goals and adding 39 assists.
