With the seasons of most European leagues either recently or soon to be closed, the latest installment of Major League Soccer's "silly season" are only around the corner, and perhaps one of the very first of these stories cropped up early Monday morning before most of us had even risen for the daily grind.

Reports from Italy surfaced that another former World Cup star could very well be on his way to one of two MLS teams, possibly this summer. The player in question is out of contract Italian midfielder Massimo Ambrosini, and the LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire are the supposedly interested parties.

This report from Tutto Mercato Web (in Italian) states that the two MLS clubs are interested in the 35-year-old midfielder, while the following tweet indicates that the clubs have made offers to Ambrosini:

Ambrosini played an absolutely staggering 18 seasons for now-former club AC Milan. He signed for the Rossoneri in 1995 and played every season since — bar one season on loan to Vicenza in 1997-98 — for the club. Ambrosini was also a borderline regular for Italy through most of the last decade, amassing 35 international appearances.

The obvious question about Ambrosini signing for an MLS team is: How much does a 35-year-old midfielder, who began playing professionally at the age of 17, have left to give a club?

Let's hear it, Galaxy and Fire fans; do you want Massimo Ambrosini to sign for your club this summer?
