Stoke City boss Pulis says Shea transfer deal is close

The on-again, off-again transfer deal that would see FC Dallas winger Brek Shea heading to Stoke looks very much to be on, and close to completion.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis said he is optimistic that a deal will get done to make Shea the Potters' latest MLS import, joining former Houston Dynamo defender Geoff Cameron.

"We are hoping we can get that deal done in the next day or so," Pulis said following his team's 2-2 draw against Wigan on Tuesday. “I think it is close now."

Shea was on hand to watch the match and, according to StokeCityFC.com, the club "reached an agreement with FC Dallas and the MLS, although the deal is subject to [Shea] passing a medical and obtaining a work permit before the close of the transfer window on Thursday evening."

Although the transfer is still not official, Pulis apparently can't wait to have Shea on his squad.

"Brek is a very, very exciting player, and one who we believe could go on to become a very good player for Stoke," Pulis continued. "He has terrific pace, a very good left foot and he is capable of scoring goals.

"If you look at the clippings of him on the internet then you will see what he is all about. I believe he has all the tools needed to be a success here, so hopefully we can get the deal done."

Cameron joined Stoke last summer from Houston on a similar transfer, while former MLSer Maurice Edu joined the team in October before he was recently loaned out to Turkish side Bursaspor.
