Report: Timbers part ways with Designated Player Boyd
INDIANAPOLIS — Caleb Porter alluded to it last week, and now it seems it's official. According a Soccer By Ives report that broke minutes before the MLS SuperDraft, the Portland Timbers have parted ways with Designated Player striker Kris Boyd.
The Scotsman never quite fit in in the Rose City, and last week during his introductory press conference, new head coach Porter said it would be difficult for the target man to fit into his system.
According the the report, Portland have bought out Boyd's contract and freed up his DP slot in the process.
The Timbers declined to comment on the report to MLSsoccer.com.
