Impact confirm deal in the works to acquire Italian Pisanu
According to an announcement made by Serie A side Bologna on Thursday, the Montreal Impact will welcome their fourth Italian player to the roster with attacking midfielder Andrea Pisanu set to arrive on loan.
An Impact spokesperson stopped short of confirming the deal, telling MLSsoccer.com on Thursday night that the club is "working on the final details" of a move for Pisanu.
Bologna, meanwhile, revealed that Pisanu will be with the Impact for a year and will join the club next week.
Montreal are familiar with Pisanu after he played for the club during their postseason tour in Italy. The 30-year-old has played for several Italian clubs, with his longest stay coming at Parma FC from 2004 to 2010.
Among the Italians on the Canadian club's roster are former Bologna captain Marco Di Vaio as well as ex-Bologna defender Matteo Ferrari. They are joined by Alessandro Nesta, a former Italian international defender, and Felipe Martins, who played in Italy and has Italian citizenship.
The Impact are still operating without a head coach after Jesse Marsch parted ways with the Impact in early November, but owner Joey Saputo has indicated that the job is down to the final two candidates and that a decision is imminent.
