Atiba Harris got off to a white-hot start with the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2011, scoring two goals and grabbing three assists in five games for the expansion side.

Then he got hurt, and never got back on track in Vancouver. Now he'll get a fresh start in Colorado.

The Rapids acquired the 27-year-old veteran striker in exchange for an international roster slot on Monday. The slot will go to the Whitecaps for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Harris, a St. Kitts & Nevis international, has 17 goals and 19 assists in 138 games for multiple clubs since coming to the league in 2006. The veteran can play anywhere along the front line, but seems like the best fit as a true No. 9 for Oscar Pareja's Rapids.

“Atiba is a versatile, exciting attacking player who has a lot of experience for his age,” Rapids technical director Paul Bravo said in a statement. “He can play both wide midfield and attacking positions and his speed, skills and tenacity will give our team a boost in the attacking third. We’re excited to welcome him to the club.”
