AMSTERDAM – Hønefoss netminder Steve Clark has been named the Norwegian top flight's Goalkeeper of the Season by Norwegian network TV2, the league's official broadcast partner.

The 26-year-old Michigan native helped small fish Hønefoss avoid relegation by a single point, logging 11 shutouts and five Man of the Match nods in 30 games. Also honored as part of the outlet's Team of the Season, Clark drew a line to his success all the way back to preseason.

"It really started last year, in December, with all the hard work," Clark told MLSsoccer.com while packing up for his offseason trip home to the States. "It's a nice reward.

"Any time you can pick up an award playing for a smaller club, it's something to take note of. And of course, a lot of the success comes from the relationship I have with the center backs. We almost know what the others are going to do when the ball comes in because we've played a lot of matches together now."

Clark's play this season has predictably drawn some interest, but he is not planning to leave Hønefoss just yet.

"I've heard some things, but I have a another year left with Hønefoss," he said. "I've developed so much with them, it's going to take a really special club to get me away in this last year [of my contract]."
