You make the call: SKC's Sapong or Union's McInerney?
Leave it to Twitter to spawn wide-ranging discussions at the drop of a hat.
That's what happened last night during Sporting KC's 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union on NBC Sports Network. With two of the league's brightest young attacking talents – C.J. Sapong and Jack McInerney – on display, MLSsoccer.com's own Armchair Analyst, Matt Doyle, posed the following question:
You're the GM of a brand new club, and can pick either CJ Sapong or Jack McInerney. 4 year contract, money no object. Who do you pick & why?
— Matt Doyle (@MLS_Analyst) March 3, 2012
As is to be expected, it's Twitter after all, opinion was decidedly split.
Some pointed to Sapong's superior hold-up play, size and athleticism, not to mention his knack for combination play. Others gave McInerney the nod based on age, off-the-ball movement and pure finishing ability.
No matter your opinion, it's clear both are on the rise after enjoying breakout seasons in 2012, with Sapong tallying nine goals for East-leading SKC while McInerney led the Union with eight strikes.
Now we want to know what you think. If you were at the helm of an MLS club, who would you rather have on your roster?
