American Exports: Bedoya, Helsingborg cough up points

AMSTERDAM – A handful of Americans suited up for some Monday night football overseas, with Alejandro Bedoya's Helsingborg seeing victory snatched away late in a 1-1 home draw with Malmö FF.

The US midfielder (above, right) went the distance at right midfield, drawing two saves from the away 'keeper. The result leaves the defending champs eight points shy of a Europa League slot with seven matches to play.

Next door in Norway's Tippeligaen, Steve Clark had a rare off night in goal as Hønefoss dropped a 3-2 decision at Vålerenga.

Despite four saves from the Michigan native, the visitors saw their win drought stretched to five games. Chad Barrett was a dugout spectator for Vålerenga, who have won three straight at home.

Over in Israel, Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona midfielder Bryan Gerzicich made his first league appearance of the season with 18 minutes off the bench in a 3-0 loss at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Finally, in Portugal, Tony Taylor went unused as Estoril notched their first top flight win in more than seven years, 3-1 over visiting Marítimo.
