AMSTERDAM – Stabæk midfielder Mikkel Diskerud's wait for a new club may be nearing its end, as MLSsoccer.com has learned that with four clubs are vying for his services.

Sources indicated that Belgian side Gent, where he went on loan last season, attempted transfer negotiations with Stabæk to acquire the 21-year-old, but were unable to complete a deal. Diskerud worked seven Jupiler League contests while on loan over the first half of 2012, helping Gent finish fourth to claim a Europa League berth.

MLSsoccer.com has confirmed that current Tippeligaen leaders Strømsgodset are in the Diskerud race, while Norwegian reports have the US international set to train with traditional power Rosenborg this week from Monday until Thursday.

Diskerud, who has two caps for the US national team, has played 83 league matches for Stabæk since making his debut in 2008.

Stabæk are currently bottom of the table in Norway, 10 points adrift of a shot at safety with 13 games to play. With Sean Cunningham a likely starter in central defense, they will tackle visiting Brann on Monday night.
