NorCal vs. SoCal: History says there's just no contest

There's just no contest when it comes to NorCal vs. SoCal in MLS.

Regardless of what happens in Saturday night's California Clasico between the San Jose Earthquakes and LA Galaxy (10 p.m. ET, ESPN2, live chat on MLSsoccer.com), Southern California trumps its northern counterpart as far as MLS players produced.

Led by the cities of Los Angeles, San Diego and even Torrance, there have been 160 players born in Southern California who have made it on MLS rosters since the league's inception. That's more than double players churned out by California's northern regions (75).

Here's the list as provided by the Elias Sports Bureau, the official statisticians of MLS:
