GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Two Mexico-based Americans are preparing for the upcoming season with new teams, following the draft in the Liga de Ascenso.

Former US Under-20 international Adrian Ruelas is looking for a fresh start with a one-year loan deal at Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz.

Ruelas went out on loan from Santos Laguna to Jaguares for the last two tournaments, but didn’t manage to get the first team minutes in the Primera División that he was hoping for.

Two-time Mexican champion Veracruz finished 14th in the league in the Clausura 2012, but their squad has undergone a major overhaul during the offseason.

The other American mover in the draft was Marco Vidal (above), who had fallen out of favor at newly promoted Club León.

Vidal will play in Puebla for Lobos BUAP next season. The team reached the final of last season’s Clausura 2012 tournament before losing in the final against Vidal’s old team, León.

The 26-year-old Texan midfielder played a total of 27 games for the Panzas Verdes and was a regular in his first two tournaments at the club. He previously played for Indios de Ciudad Juárez and Pachuca.
