Canadian Exports: Hoilett mulling club, nat'l team choices

It was perhaps the ultimate tease for fans of the Canadian national soccer team.

As the Canadians were taking on the United States at BMO Field on Sunday, Junior Hoilett was shown on the big screen in attendance at the game.

Of course Canadian fans are hoping Hoilett, currently with Blackburn Rovers, will declare his allegiance to the Canadian national program. A reporter from Sportsnet, which carried the game on Canadian television, asked for an interview but was turned down. The Brampton, Ontario, native reportedly said he wants to work out his club future before deciding on whether to represent Canada or Jamaica, from where his father hails.

With Blackburn relegated from the Premiership, suitors are lining up for Hoilett. Borussia Mönchengladbach reportedly won his signature, but Hoilett refuted the report that he had been signed to the Bundesliga club.

Hoilett scored seven goals for Blackburn this past season. He has also publicly mused in the past about waiting until such a time where he could be eligible to represent the English national team.
