TUKWILA, Wash. – It’s looking like Adam Johansson and Mauro Rosales will have to wait a little longer to make their return to the Seattle Sounders.

“They are making progress,” Sounders coach Sigi Schmid said ahead of their match against Colorado (4 pm ET, watch LIVE online). “The thing is that next weekend is bye for us. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to rush them back to play 20 minutes or something in this game. I think they’ll both be ready to be on the bench and play a few minutes, but we experienced that last year with Mauro. Let’s take the extra two weeks we had.”

Rosales, who has a sprained knee, suffered a similar injury toward the end of last season. He sat out three weeks and then played 26 minutes as a substitute against the San Jose Earthquakes. He came out of that game after picking up an assist and was hurt again the following game. He ultimately had to sit out for the playoffs.

Rosales and Johansson have both missed three matches so far. Rosales played 76 minutes against Toronto FC, but came out shortly after he collided with TFC defender Aaron Maund. Johansson was able to play all 90 minutes in that game, but suffered a hamstring strain and has only recently started to participate in most of the training sessions.

In other injury-related news, it appears that Eddie Johnson should be available for a second straight week. After making his Sounders debut last week, he played the first half of Wednesday’s Reserve League game without suffering any setbacks.

Backup goalkeeper Andrew Weber was not so lucky. He suffered a “high-ankle sprain” after colliding with Bright Dike during Wednesday’s game and will be out about four weeks.

Babayele Sodade, who tore his ACL while playing for Canada’s U23 team during Olympic qualifying, underwent successful surgery and will likely miss the rest of the season.

“The surgery went all right,” Schmid said about Sodade. “Outside of the ACL, there was, as I understand it, very little damage, if any, which is good.”
