Revs expect Moreno to report once visa issues sorted
TUCSON, Ariz. – The José Moreno saga looks like it’s coming to an end, as the New England Revolution expect the Colombian attacker to report to the team as soon as his visa issues are sorted.
“As far as I know, he’s coming,” Revs head coach Jay Heaps told MLSsoccer.com on Wednesday at training. “On March 1, we’ll see where the process is for the ITC and the visa, but at this point, in speaking with the player and the agents and the club, we’ve got a signed document. We expect him to be here.”
Moreno’s loan from Once Caldas contractually begins on Thursday, but controversy has ensued as the player was quoted in the Colombian press as saying he would not report to New England.
But club officials are now confident the striker will join the Revs as expected once his visa is processed, though there is no exact timetable.
“Both sides have to push it through,” Heaps said.
Revolution GM Michael Burns will provide more details in a conference call with reporters on Thursday, and Burns will also join MLSsoccer.com’s live stream at halftime of Wednesday night’s New England-Real Salt Lake match at the Desert Diamond Cup (8 pm ET, live on MLSsoccer.com Channel 1).
