US U-23s play to scoreless draw with Saprissa reserves

In the first of two scrimmages to conclude their own January camp, the US U-23 national team played to a scoreless draw on Saturday in Costa Rica against Saprissa’s reserve squad on Saturday.

The game was played at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa, which has been the site of a number of clashes with MLS sides in recent seasons, including RSL’s 2-1 loss against the Purple Dragons that still sent them to the CONCACAF Champions League finals on aggregate.

MLS products dominated Caleb Porter’s lineup, as 11 of the 18 players who appeared for the US represented a domestic sides. The U-23s will conclude their January gathering with another scrimmage against Alajuelense on Tuesday.
