Gringo Report preview: Torres & Co. host Beasley's crew
GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Week 2 of Mexico's Clausura 2012 is set to get underway, and two tilts between Americans highlight the weekend action.
In the first clash, a fit-again José Francisco Torres and Pachuca host DaMarcus Beasley's Puebla on Saturday (8 pm, Galavisión) in a battle of two of the highest profile Yanks playing in Mexico. Both men started in their respective matches last weekend, and both will be looking to lead their squads to their first win this season.
Later that night, two more Yanks battle under the lights when Herculez Gomez and Santos Laguna visit Sonny Guadarrama and Atlante (10 pm ET, TeleFutura).
But the round of games begins on Friday, when San Luis and Michael Orozco Fiscal, praised for his role in keeping a clean sheet against Pumas UNAM last weekend, travel to Guadalajara to take on Estudiantes Tecos (9:10 pm, Galavisión).
Club Tijuana face a tricky home game against Monterrey on Saturday (9 pm ET; ESPN Deportes, Azteca América), with Edgar Castillo likely to start again and Greg Garza and Joe Corona both looking to build on last weekend's substitute appearances.
Jonathan Bornstein and Tigres UANL will play at home for the first time since clinching the title last month when they play Querétaro (Saturday, 8 pm ET, TeleFutura).
Chivas de Guadalajara left back Miguel Ángel Ponce is in line to start against Jaguares (Saturday, 6 pm ET; Fox Deportes, Azteca América).
Down in Venezuela, goalkeeper Diego Restrepo is available for Deportivo Táchira against CD Lara on Sunday (6 pm ET), although he is still catching up with the rest of the team in terms of preparation for the new season and may not start.
