GUADALAJARA, Mexico — DaMarcus Beasley vowed to make up for his last-minute error last weekend against Monterrey, and he did just that against Chivas de Guadalajara.

With the score 1-1 in the 58th minute on Saturday, Beasley picked up the ball on the halfway line and drove into the box. The 29-year-old Fort Wayne, Ind., native wriggled his way through the Chivas defense and was brought down in the six yard box when he was about to slot the ball home.

The Chivas defender was sent off, Luis García converted the penalty and Puebla went on to record an impressive 4-1 victory that moves them into a playoff spot. Beasley was a constant menace on the left, especially during the second half. For Chivas, Sacramento-born Miguel Ángel Ponce was not involved.

Herculez Gomez started on the bench for Estudiantes Tecos in their 2-0 victory against Club Tijuana but scored his second goal in his last four appearances (75 minutes of action in total) in injury time. It was a valuable three points for Estudiantes against their direct relegations rivals. Joe Corona had a quiet 57 minutes on the right wing for Tijuana.

Club América were without Edgar Castillo, who was out with a minor thigh injury, and fell 5-3 in an epic game against Jaguares. Forward Isaac Acuña played 30 minutes as América struggled for an equalizer near the end. Coach Carlos Reinoso resigned following the game after the club won just nine points from the opening nine games of the Apertura 2011.

Pachuca's roller-coaster season continued with a 4-2 win at home over Atlas. José Francisco Torres played the full 90 minutes for Pachuca.

Michael Orozco Fiscal's San Luis lost 1-0 at home against Santos. The Orange County, Calif., born defender played a full game.

Jonathan Bornstein played in a Tigres UANL Under-20s game against Atlante. In the same game, 19-year-old Texas native Victor Garza received a red card in the 60th minute.

In the Liga de Ascenso, midfielder Marco Vidal played the first 45 minutes in Club León's 2-1 loss to Pumas Morelos.

Over in Colombia, goalkeeper Diego Restrepo was again restricted to the bench for América de Cali's 2-1 victory over Itagüí.
