After a very successful performance that saw him lead his country to a U-17 World Cup championship, a number of Internet reports had sprung up linking Mexican Under-17 captain Antonio Briseño with clubs around the world. One club that has featured prominently in those reports is the Houston Dynamo.

Thursday a report surfaced in Notisistema that Briseño’s current club, Atlas, are looking to send the young defender out on loan. And while Houston was listed as the likely destination, Dynamo president of business operations Chris Canetti shot down the report in a phone conversation with MLSsoccer.com on Thursday afternoon saying, “There is no truth to those reports.”

Mexican outlet Noroeste first linked the defender with the Dynamo in an Aug. 3 report stating that the young defender had interest in English club Everton and the Dynamo. Reports have since linked him with world super clubs FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Dynamo have been very active in the summer transfer window, trading for Adam Moffat on July 21 and completing loan deals for Honduran forward Carlo Costly and Brazilian midfielder Luiz Camargo in the past week.

After making those three moves, Houston would have to clear roster space before making additional moves.

With the transfer window set to close on Sunday, rumors and reports will continue to flow. But from the looks of it, the Dynamo are out of the transfer market and will focus on finishing their season with a playoff run to end the season.
