FC Dallas release Colombian vet Rodríguez, Marosevic
FC Dallas' Colombian contingent just got a little smaller.
On Thursday, the club announced that it released forward Milton Rodríguez.
Rodríguez, 35, had been hampered by injuries as of late. The Colombian forward, who joined FCD in May of last year, has played in just 13 games out of 22 this season for Dallas, getting the starting nod just five times. He scored just one goal and added an assist.
Last year, Rodríguez finished as the club’s third-highest scorer, tallying five times in 13 matches before an injury suffered in the first playoff game against Real Salt Lake kept him out for the remainder of the year.
The club also announced the release of Peri Marosevic, the 22-year-old forward who failed to carve himself a regular spot on the roster since he was drafted by FCD in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. The University of Michigan alum was immediately snapped up by Toronto FC, however, and became the 12th new player added to the Reds squad since opening day in Aron Winter's continuing shake-up.
Marosevic, a member of last year's Generation adidas team that traveled to Spain, made his pro debut against Chivas in March 29, 2009. He appeared in just three more league contests for head coach Schellas Hyndman that season and failed to get any playing time since.
