American Exports: Rangers say bid for Bedoya rejected
AMSTERDAM — Rangers manager Ally McCoist has revealed that the club had an offer for Örebro midfielder Alejandro Bedoya rejected this week.
After the admission, STV reported that the Light Blues have decided to abandon hope of acquiring the US international in August and offer Bedoya a pre-deal to join up when his ÖSK pact expires this winter.
"Bedoya is a player we have an interest in, but the bid we have made has been knocked back," McCoist told Scottish paper The Daily Record on Wednesday morning.
As previously reported on MLSsoccer.com, Rangers were at the head of a Bedoya queue that also includes clubs from France and one in the Netherlands. Whether this offer rejection changes the line order remains to be seen.
Bedoya will hope to beat an ankle knock when Örebro conclude their scoreless Europa League qualifying tie at FK Sarajevo on Thursday. Then, he will eligible to return from a red-card suspension when they host league foe Norrköping on Sunday.
