MEXICO CITY — American midfielder DaMarcus Beasley has been tagged as the next possible reinforcement for Mexican side Pachuca, FutbolMLS.com has learned.

The three-time World Cup veteran is currently in Mexico to undergo physical exams and to be observed by Pachuca manager Efraín Flores. According to the club's vice president, Andrés Fassi, Beasley will be on a 10-day trial with los Tuzos and, if both sides are happy with the results, he could join the club for the coming season.

“DaMarcus has been invited by ... Pachuca with the aim that he gets to know the institution and that he participate in training,” Fassi told FutbolMLS.com. “There is a possibility that he stay with the club. He’s a great player but hasn’t had a lot of continuity with the teams in which he has played.”

The Pachuca executive praised the US winger’s qualities, pointing out that Beasley hasn’t had much success in his stints abroad because he hasn’t gotten enough playing time.

“He is a player that hasn’t been trusted enough by the teams in which he has been,” said Fassi. “He’s got a great level, but due to different circumstances, hasn’t had the chance to play. We think he’s a player with excellent qualities to play anywhere.”

Beasley currently has one season remaining in his contract with German side Hannover 96. The American only saw action for the Bundesliga club in four games in all of last season, as injuries plagued his progress with the club.

On Wednesday, Beasley met up with fellow Americans José Francisco Torres and Hérculez Gómez, the latter of whom is making an offseason move of his own within Mexico to Estudiantes Tecos.

“Flores — the team’s manager — is happy to have [Beasley] with us, and we’ll see what happens,” Fassi said. “We all know DaMarcus’ trajectory and that’s why we invited him.”
