Jake Gleeson’s last-gasp save on reigning MVP David Ferreira last Sunday sealed another dramatic win for the Portland Timbers and earned the youngster his second Save of the Week honor this season.

Gleeson made a lunging save to steer Ferreira’s 93rd-minute volley onto the crossbar, narrowly preserving the Timbers’ 3-2 win at JELD-WEN Field. Portland built a 3-0 lead for the second consecutive game before eventually watching it whittled down to an airtight one-goal edge.

But that’s when Gleeson came up big, earning his third save of the afternoon and his first Save of the Week honor since Week 2. He earned more than 70 percent of the vote, comfortably topping a diving save from Toronto FC’s Stefan Frei.
