Current Roster

Columbus Crew SC are one of the 10 charter clubs which formed MLS, playing in the league's inaugural season in 1996. The side quickly became one of the leaders in the development of professional soccer in the US, opening Columbus Crew Stadium - the country's first soccer-specific facility - in 1999.

The club's initial name - the Columbus Crew - was chosen through a city-wide competition; the club’s colors have been black and gold since it was founded in 1994. The club’s original logo consisted of three men wearing construction helmets in a shield shape with “Crew” written above it. This reflects the hard working, blue-collar image the city of Columbus has and was unique in MLS as it’s the only badge to include people in the design. The kit colors are primarily yellow with black trim.

Columbus changed ownership in 2013, with entrepreneur Anthony Precourt purchasing the club from original owners the Hunt family. Precourt led a mild rebrand in 2014, with the club changing its official name to Columbus Crew SC and switching its logo to a circular crest with all traces of the construction workers removed.

Crew SC are one of the most decorated clubs in MLS history, having won five trophies since 1996. They clinched their first MLS Cup in 2008, adding to their Supporters’ Shield titles won in 2004, 2008 and 2009. They also won the US Open Cup in 2002 and reached the final of the famous knockout tournament in 1998 and 2010.
