January 4, 2011: Chivas USA announced that Robin Fraser, a dominating player during his 10-year MLS career and a respected assistant coach in four seasons with Real Salt Lake, was named the club’s new Head Coach. The Red-and-White also announced that Greg Vanney, a former MLS All-Star and veteran of the United States National Team, will join the club as Assistant Coach.
January 13, 2011: University of Akron product Zarek Valentin is selected by Chivas USA as the 4th overall pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft held in Baltimore, Maryland. The Red-and-White also selected Ecuadorian Victor Estupiñan from LDU Quito.
February 9, 2011: Chivas USA announced that it has signed midfielder Simon Elliott, a standout with the New Zealand National Team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup with eight years of MLS experience, on a free transfer. The club has also signed defender Andrew Boyens, who has played with Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls, as well as the New Zealand National Team.
February 10, 2011: Chivas USA announced that Jim Liston will join the club as the Strength and Conditioning Coach.
February 15, 2011: Chivas USA announced that U.S. International Defender Heath Pearce was acquired in a trade with FC Dallas. Pearce has played professionally in Denmark, as well as Germany before joining FC Dallas in 2009.
March 1, 2011: Chivas USA announced today the acquisition of Argentine forward Marcos Mondaini, an experienced striker in various South American leagues.
March 9, 2011: Chivas USA announced that it has signed midfielder Francisco ‘Panchito’ Mendoza, the Mexican player with the most all-time Major League Soccer appearances, as well as goalkeeper Sergio Arias, a star of Mexico’s U-17 World Cup winning team in 2005, on loan from Chivas de Guadalajara.
March 17, 2011: Chivas USA defender Zarek Valentin, the team’s first selection from the 2011 MLS SuperDraft, has been selected to participate with the United States Under-20 National Team for the 2011 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in Guatemala.
July 19, 2011: Chivas USA’s Defender Heath Pearce and Midfielder Nick LaBrocca were selected to the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star Team by Head Coach Hans Backe.
August 2, 2011: Chivas USA forward Alejandro Moreno returns the team after participating in CONMEBOL’s Copa America, tournament held in Argentina. Moreno helped lead the ‘Vinotinto’ to the team’s best 4th place finish.
August 3, 2011: Chivas USA announced that it has signed Laurent Courtois from Grenoble (FRA). The Red-and-White also signed defender David Junior Lopes, who had also played in Europe for FC Universitatea Craiova for the Romanian Liga 1.
August 17, 2011: Chivas USA announced the acquisition of Colombian striker Juan Pablo Ángel in a trade with LA Galaxy.
August 19, 2011: Chivas USA defender Jimmy Conrad announces his retirement as a professional soccer player after suffering from a concussion early in the team’s season.
October 25, 2011: Chivas USA announces Team Award Winners: Defender of the Year- Heath Pearce, Humanitarian of the Year- Michael Lahoud, Most Valuable Player- Dan Kennedy, Golden Boot Award- Nick LaBrocca, and Spirit of Chivas USA Award- Alejandro Moreno.
November 21, 2011: Chivas USA announced the acquisition, via trade, of English midfielder Ryan Smith from Sporting Kansas City.
November 23, 2011: Chivas USA acquires defender James Riley in the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft.
December 21, 2011: Chivas USA announced that the club has acquired Ecuadorian midfielder Oswaldo Minda.
