Gold Cup: Altidore to undergo MRI on hamstring on Tuesday

Jozy Altidore is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday after injuring his hamstring in the early stages of the United States national team's 2-0 victory over Jamaica on Sunday.

USMNT spokesman Michael Kammarman told MLSsoccer.com on Monday that the forward traveled with the team from Washington to Houston, where they will meet Panama in Wednesday's Gold Cup semifinal at Reliant Stadium.

Altidore injured his hamstring in the eighth minute of Sunday's match at RFK Stadium. He chased a ball into the box but pulled up, holding the back of his left leg and immediately signaled to the bench for a substitute. He was replaced by Juan Agudelo in the 10th minute.

The 21-year-old Altidore has started all four matches for the US in this Gold Cup. If he cannot go against Panama, the 18-year-old Agudelo should get the start. The New York Red Bulls starlet started in the US' opening match against Canada.

Altidore's two goals in this tournament puts him even for the team scoring lead with Clint Dempsey.
