Welcome to MLS's fantasy web site located at fantasy.mlssoccer.com ("Site") that allows you to play fantasy soccer against others in user created leagues ("User Created Leagues") and/or join the MLS League for the chance to win prizes ("MLS League ," together with the User Created Leagues, the "Games"), as well as access professional soccer related news and information. The Site is hosted and managed by Major League Soccer, L.L.C. ("MLS").
The following Rules and General Terms of Service for the Site is a legal contract between you, an individual customer, member, or user ("You" or, collectively, "Users"), and MLS regarding your use of the Site.
Start and End of Game: The MLS League begins on March 06, 2016 (the "Start Date") and ends immediately upon completion of the last game of the 2016 MLS Regular Season on October 23, 2016 (the "End Date," together with the Start Date, the "2016 Season"). User Generated Leagues have the same 2016 Season. A Team may join leagues at any point during the 2016 Season.
Eligibility: To participate in any of the Games shown below, you must be an individual who resides in one of the fifty (50) United States of America or Canada and must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence for the duration of the Games. Void where prohibited. Employees, officers, directors, agents and representatives of the Major League Soccer, L.L.C. (hereafter, "Sponsor"), its member professional football clubs, Soccer United Marketing, LLC ("SUM") Properties, and each of their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, wholesalers, retailers, distributors, suppliers, advertising and promotion agencies (hereafter collectively, "Released Parties"), and each such individual's immediate family members (mother, father, sister, brother, child, husband, wife and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and those living in their same households, whether or not related, are not eligible to win a prize. Such excluded employees, family members may participate in these Games, but they WILL NOT be eligible to receive any prizes. All applicable federal, state and local laws apply.
THE SITE IS NOT AVAILABLE TO PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 13 OR TO ANY USERS PREVIOUSLY SUSPENDED OR REMOVED FROM THE SITE BY MLS. By clicking the "I Agree" button or by otherwise downloading, installing, or using the Site, you represent that you are at least 13 years of age and have not been previously suspended or removed from the Site. TO BE ELIGIBLE TO WIN PRIZES, YOU MUST BE AT LEAST THE AGE OF MAJORITY IN YOUR JURISDICTION PURSUANT TO THESE TERMS.
Entrants who do not comply with any of the requirements of these Rules or any other applicable Terms are not eligible to participate or win a prize.
Registration: To play, login using one of the social network logins at the Site and/or create an account, you will be asked to name your team. Only one team is permitted per email address and/or Social network Login per household. If you don't enter a team name, your team will be given the same name as your user name. Team names that are considered offensive, in the sole discretion of SUM, are not permitted. Any name deemed offensive may be blocked from participating in the Games. The registration form must be completed accurately and in its entirety. Once an account has been created, you may enter one or more of the User Created Leagues with other Users by following the instructions provided on the Site.
Limitations on Number of Teams:
- User Generated Leagues: Users may only register their team in a maximum of 15 private leagues and up to 3 public leagues.
- MLS League: Only one team per person per household. Any additional teams will be void.
Leagues: Each player competes and is automatically entered into the game's overall league and a league for players starting the same round as you. You are also encouraged to participate other private and public leagues
You may join up to 15 private leagues and 3 public leagues. Private and public leagues use either a classic or head-to-head scoring system.
Supporters League eligibility: To be participate in a Supporters League you must select a favorite team during the Game registration process or using the Settings screen before 1:30PM EST on March 06, 2016.
Classic scoring system: Each league is run on a phase and overall basis. The phases are as follow:

Head-to-Head scoring system: Each round you will play a match against another team in the league, with a match result based on game scores. 3 points will be awarded for a win and 1 point for a draw. In the event of a tie, the team with the most game points will be positioned higher. Any points deducted for making transfers leading up to the round will be deducted from your head-to-head score. If your league has an odd number of teams then an average player will be added to ensure everyone has a match each round. The average player will score the average game points each round. Alternatively, a head to head league may end with a knock-out stage where the league winner is decided by a final match in the last round. If a knock-out match is drawn, then the following tie-breaks will be applied until a winner is found:
- Most Goals scored in the round
- Fewest Goals conceded in the round
- Virtual coin toss
Team selection: You may enter only one team per login and per household. Multiple teams will be deleted. Each team consists of 16 players and must include:
- 2 Goalkeepers
- 5 Defenders
- 5 Midfielders
- 4 Forwards
You may select up to 4 players from a single MLS club.
Each player has been given a value. The initial value of your team may not exceed $120 million. Over the course of the season the value of your team is allowed to increase due to player value changes. View all player values
Substitutions: Players on your bench do not score points. However, once a round has started and before a player's match has started, you may switch players using Manager Substitutions. Your formation will automatically change based on the players you have chosen.
- You may make an unlimited number of manager substitutions during a round.
- You may replace any player who has not played and his team's match has not started, with one from your bench who has not played and his team's match has not started.
- You may change your captain, if he did not play, with a player from your team who has not played.
- A player is locked in your line starting or as captain at the match's start time listed on this site and MLSsoccer.com's schedule.
Automatic Substitutions: If no manager substitutions or captain changes are made, automatic substitutions are processed at the end of the round as follows:
- If your Goalkeeper plays 0 minutes in the round, he will be substituted by the highest priority Goalkeeper on your bench who played in the round.
- If any of your outfield players play 0 minutes in the round, they will be substituted by the highest priority outfield substitute who played in the round and doesn't break the formation rules (eg. If your starting team has 3 defenders, a defender can only be replaced by another defender).
- If your captain plays 0 minutes in the round, the captain bonus will be lost. No one will take the captain role in his place.
Captain: You must nominate a captain and starting eleven. Your captain's score will be doubled at the end of the round.
Scoring: Points are awarded to players in your starting eleven after each round using the scoring categories listed in the tables below. There are 34 rounds to the 2016 Fantasy Soccer Manager season.

*Assists: Assists are awarded when a pass or cross leads to a goal being scored (no defender touch must interfere with the pass). Live-scoring assist totals are provisional and will be reviewed within 24 hours of the match. As an addition, bonus points are awarded to players for their contribution to the game.
**Red Cards: If an player receives a red card during a match, he will continue to be penalised for goals conceded by his team. Points deductions for red cards include any points deducted for yellow cards.
Attacking Bonus: Players will score extra points for positive play:
|1 point for every 3 crosses (A cross is defined where the ball is played to their own player in the penalty area)|
|1 point for every 3 key passes (A key pass is one that leads to a shot at goal)|
|1 point for every big chance created (A big chance is one where the analyst determines the player should score)|
Defending Bonus: Players will score extra points for good defending:
|1 point for every 4 clearances|
|1 point for every 2 blocks|
|1 point for every 4 interceptions|
|1 point for every 4 tackles|
|1 point for every 6 recovered balls|
|-1 point for every error leading to a goal|
Transfers: Transfers allow you add and drop players from your 18-player team ahead of the next round. (See "Substitutions" for information about changing your starting eleven.) Transfers are limited per round. The table below shows the number of transfers allowed in each round. If you enter after the start of the first round, you can make unlimited transfers before the next round.
Transfer Deadlines: Transfers must be complete by the round deadline in order for the player to score points for that round. Any transfers made after the current round's transfer deadline will not score points until the current round is complete.

Additional and saved transfers: Any additional transfers made in the same period will deduct four points from your total. If you do not use all of your free transfers in a round, you are able to make one additional free transfer the following round. If you do not use this saved free transfer in the following round, it will be carried over until you do. You can never have more than one saved transfer.
Transfer wildcard: You are issued two wildcards this season. A wildcard allows you to make unlimited transfers throughout a round. You may use it at any time during the season. Once you use your wildcard, any saved transfers from that round will be lost. The first one can be used between rounds 2-17 and the second one in rounds 19-34.
Player values/price changes: A player's price will change if their match score significantly differs from the average match score of other players in the same position. This average score is calculated on a round basis and only includes players who played at least 45 minutes.
- To fall in value a player must play at least 45 minutes in a match.
- Irrespective of minutes played a player will fall $0.2 if he receives a red card in a match.
- The price changes are per match. Players playing multiple times in a round can potentially fall or rise multiple times.
- There is no sell-on fee. You will receive the current market value of the player.
- You won't be able to buy or sell players until the transfer window opens at the end of the round.
Prizes for MLS League Participants: At the conclusion of the 2016 Season, the top 10 eligible Users who scored the highest overall point totals amongst all teams in the MLS League will receive:
- One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be determined from all eligible Users in the MLS League. The Grand Prize Winner will be the User determined to have the most points at the end of the 2016 Season will receive the Prize listed below.
- One (1) Second Place Winner will be determined from all eligible Users in the MLS League. The next User determined to have the most points after the Grand Prize Winner at the end of the 2016 Season will receive the Prize listed below.
- One (1) Third Place Winner will be determined from all eligible Users in the MLS League. The next User determined to have the most points after the Grand Prize Winner at the end of the 2016 Season will receive the Prize listed below.
- Seven (7) Winners will be determined from all eligible Users in the MLS League. The Users ranked 4-10 in points as determined by MLS shall receive the prizes listed below.

Prizes for Supporters League Participants: At the conclusion of the 2016 Season, the top eligible Users who scored the highest overall point totals amongst all teams in each official Supporters League will receive one (1) Supporters League Prize listed below.

Prizes for Private League Participants: Up to ten (10) Private leagues with 750 or more unique, eligible Users will be eligible for a Private League Prize. The Private League must reach the 750 unique, eligible Users by March 29, 2016 at 4:45PM EDT to be considered eligible for prize consideration. MLS will announce the eligible Private Leagues on mlssoccer.com.
At the conclusion of the 2016 Season, the top eligible Users who scored the highest overall point totals amongst all teams eligible and announced Private Leagues will receive one (1) Private League Prize listed below.
|Private League Prizes||One (1) $200 USD gift card. The approximate retail value ("ARV") of each prize is Two Hundred U.S. Dollars ($200).|
Judging for Games: Judging to determine the winners will be conducted by MLS or its designee(s). Winners will be determined by the points earned by each entrant through play in a MLS League. Users will create fantasy soccer teams and earn points in accordance with the rules and scoring system outlined herein. A tie will first be broken by the overall value of the tied players' fantasy teams as of the conclusion of the Game. Any subsequent ties will be broken at random in the sole discretion of MLS or its designee(s). Prizes will be awarded to the number of eligible entrants who have earned the most points out of all other eligible entrants by the Game End Date per the schedule shown above. MLS will be the sole inspector and final arbiter of all Game determinants, including, but not limited to number of entrants and number of points earned, and will use internal software and internal analysis to determine the number of points earned by each entrant. In addition, MLS may from time to time choose to conduct, and award other prizes in connection with, interim promotions. By way of example, this could include the awarding of prizes for entrants who earn the most points in a certain week or month, or who improve the most from one month to the next with respect to points earned. MLS will elect whether or not to conduct interim promotions in its sole discretion, and such interim promotions and prizes are not guaranteed.
Winners may only win one (1) Prize. In the event that your team is declared winner in multiple Games, you are not eligible to win both prizes. Of the Games you are declared the winner and associated Prizes, you will be awarded the Prize of greater value and forfeit the prize in the other Games. The second highest scorer in the other Games you were declared winner for will receive that Prize.
Odds of Winning: The Games are games of skill. The odds of winning in any Game depend on your skill in drafting and managing an MLS fantasy soccer team and in predicting the relative performance of athletes, and on the number of participants in a Game. In addition, the odds of winning depend on how late you enter any Game, since later entrants have less total time in which to accumulate points relative to entrants who entered earlier.
Finality of Decisions: All decisions of MLS are final and binding in all matters relating to any Game. MLS does not permit two or more owners in the same league to work together to better one team at the expense of the other (for example, making one-sided trades, one team dropping highly-rated players so the other team can pick them up) If it is discovered that two or more owners are colluding, MLS reserves the right to disqualify all involved owners from participating in any Game.
Inappropriate League Communication: The Fantasy and League Discussions, League News area, League Email Address and Game Center Discussions are available for you to communicate with other league owners. We ask that you refrain from posting or sending messages that could be construed as offensive to other owners. If MLS determines, at MLS's sole discretion, that someone is engaging in inappropriate league communication, MLS reserves the right to disqualify that person from participating in any MLS Fantasy Soccer league.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded and mailed to the winner MLS will cover costs of shipping and handling of prizes to any destination within the contiguous United Sates and Canada. All other shipping and handling shall be the sole responsibility of prize winner. MLS reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater monetary value to the prizes if for any reason any prize cannot be awarded as contemplated in these Official Rules.
Taxes: ALL TAXES AND CURRENCY EXCHANGE FEES OR CHARGES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF THE PRIZES ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.
MLS reserves the right to withhold any taxes as required by applicable law. All prizes will be awarded (other than any portion withheld for tax purposes or as otherwise required by applicable law) to the winners only and are not transferable. The winner may be required to supply a Social Security number (or, in Canada, a Social Insurance Number), Taxpayer ID, or fill out other forms prior to the award of any prize.
Notification of Winner: The winners will be notified by e-mail and/or regular mail and must sign and return an affidavit (or, in Canada, a declaration) of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, a publicity/liability release (unless prohibited by law), and any other requested documents within the time period stipulated in the documents. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in disqualification. Any notification returned as undeliverable may result in disqualification. In the event of a dispute about the identity of an individual, entries will be declared submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized Account Holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider or online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. The winners may be required to provide MLS with proof that the potential winner is the Authorized Account Holder of the e-mail address associated with the winner.
The name of the winners may also be obtained by mailing a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Major League Soccer, L.L.C, 420 Fifth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, New York 10018.
General Conditions: By entering any MLS League or User Created League, you agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules, any other rules related to the Game published on the Site, and any decision MLS or its designees make regarding any matters relating to a Game. MLS reserves the right to disqualify from any Game, and any future Game or other promotion conducted by MLS, and to prosecute to the fullest extent permitted by law, any entrant who, in MLS's reasonable suspicion, tampers with the Site, entry process or a Game, violates these Official Rules, engages in any cheating or collusion, or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. In the event of disqualification or ineligibility of any winner, MLS may replace such winner with the next runner-up at the sole discretion of MLS. Where awarding prizes is applicable by law, Canadian winners will be required to take a skills test before collecting prizes. By entering into a MLS Game, you consent to MLS's use of your name, photograph and/or likeness, address, voice, fantasy soccer selections, and statements made by or attributed to you, in perpetuity, in any and all media now known or hereafter developed (including, without limitation, print, broadcast, and Internet), for all business purposes including advertising and promotional activities without additional compensation, notice or approval, unless prohibited by law.
When you use certain features, you will be asked to log-in to your MLS fantasy account using your password. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer, and you agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password. You agree that the information you provide during the account registration process and at all other times will be true, accurate, current, and complete. You also agree that you will ensure that this information is kept accurate and up-to-date at all times. If you have reason to believe that your account is no longer secure (e.g., in the event of a loss, theft or unauthorized disclosure or use of your account ID, password, or any credit, debit or charge card number, if applicable), then you agree to immediately notify Customer Service. You shall be liable for the losses incurred by MLS or others due to any unauthorized use of your Site account.
No transfer, assignment, cash redemption, or substitution of prize (or portion thereof) is permitted except by Sponsor who reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value as determined by Sponsor.
Except where prohibited by law, a Prize Winner's acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for the Sponsor to use that Prize Winner's name, photograph, likeness, statements, biographical information, voice, and address (city and state) worldwide and in all forms of media, in perpetuity, without further compensation. Winners agree to Released Parties' use of their names and likeness for advertising and publicity purposes, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.
The Released Parties and their parents, affiliated and subsidiary companies and advertising and promotion agencies are not responsible for lost, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled, late, delayed, undelivered or misdirected registrations, User ID's, submissions, fantasy points, MLS player selections, transactions, and submissions; theft, destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, submissions or registrations; failures or malfunctions of phones, phone lines or telephone systems; interrupted or unavailable network, server or other connections; any error, omission, interruption, defect or delay in any transmission or communication; traffic congestion on the Internet or for any technical problem, including, but not limited to, any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in this Game; errors or ambiguity in these Rules, in any Game-related advertisements or other materials; the selection or announcement of potential winners or the distribution of prizes; the cancellation, suspension or preemption of MLS games, injuries or other unavailability of players, scoring tabulation or timing errors or other problems or errors of any kind whether mechanical, human, electronic, typographical, printing or otherwise. By entering, each participant agrees that the Released Parties and their parents, affiliated and subsidiary companies and advertising and promotion agencies shall have no liability and will be held harmless by participant for any claim, action, liability, loss, injury or damage (1) to participant or any other person or entity, including, without limitation, personal injury or death to participant or any other person or damage to personal or real property, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize and any travel or travel-related activity thereto or participation in this Game, and (2) any and all taxes and other fees applicable to the prizes received by the winners. The Released Parties, in their sole discretion, reserve the right to: 1) disqualify any person (and void his/her points) who tampers with the submission process, the operation of the Game, or any other component of this Game, or who is otherwise in violation of these Rules; and 2) modify, suspend or terminate this Game (or any portion thereof) should virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes, including but not limited to war, strikes, and/or acts of God, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this Game. The Released Parties reserve the right to halt or modify the Game at any time during the Game Period if events beyond its control compromise the Game's fairness or integrity. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A PARTICIPANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE GAME IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, RELEASED PARTIES RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PARTICIPANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

If, and only if, we receive this information before the opening faceoff of the game that a player the requested players to be moved are involved in. Once a game begins none of these requests will be honored. In some situations, we may receive many of these requests. We may not be able to fix each roster by gametime. However, we will process the transactions retroactively as long as we receive the email before gametime. We treat these emails as actual transactions so any move that you make after the email could be overridden. If you wish to cancel the email transaction, you must notify us with that request before the scheduled gametime of the players involved.
