A very skilled, technical player, Castro joined Major League Soccer after a six-year career in Honduras' Liga Nacional ... is equally adept with both feet and plays comfortably on either side of the midfield or in the center ... has good speed and a keen eye for the finishing pass ... is tremendous on set pieces and is able to serve the ball all over the area from many locations or on corner kicks.

2009: Made six regular-season appearances - including three starts - and recorded one assist. Missed the first 14 games of the season because of a series of left hamstring strains. Made his 2009 debut as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 win over Seattle (Aug. 20), while he made his first start in the next match, a 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake (Aug. 23). Assisted on the first of Kheli Dube’s three goals in the win over RSL. Missed the 1-1 draw with New York (Sept. 18) with a lower right leg strain. Made appearances in both of the team’s MLS Cup Playoff matches against the Chicago Fire, coming on as a second-half substitute in both games. Delivered the corner kick that led to Shalrie Joseph’s game-winning goal in the 75th minute of the Game 1 victory against Chicago, and then entered at halftime of Game 2, but was replaced 27 minutes later when he suffered a right wrist injury which required stitches.

2008: Made 24 appearances, including 22 starts, in regular-season action. Recorded three assists in regular-season games. Played primarily as a left-sided midfielder but filled in as an attacking midfielder and right-sided midfielder. Overall, made 31 appearances, including regular season, U.S. Open Cup, SuperLiga, CONCACAF Champions League and MLS Cup Playoff matches. Made his MLS and Revolution debut with a start in the season opener against Houston (March 29). Was shown a straight red card in the 46th minute of the match at New York (April 19) and missed New England's trip to Dallas (April 24) while serving a mandatory one-game suspension. Recorded his first career assist on Kheli Dube's goal in the 2-0 win at Houston (June 12). Strained his right oblique in the 1-1 draw with New York (June 18) and missed the match at Real Salt Lake (June 21). Made one substitute appearance in the U.S. Open Cup, scoring the decisive penalty kick in the shootout of the quarterfinal win over Crystal Palace Baltimore (July 8). Made two starts in SuperLiga, playing against Atlante (July 30) in the semifinal and against Houston (Aug. 5) in the championship. Missed all three group phase matches with a groin injury. Assisted on Steve Ralston's goal in the final. Started both matches against Joe Public FC (Aug. 26, Sept. 2) in the CONCACAF Champions League, scoring the Revs' only goal in the series on a penalty kick in the team's 2-1 road loss in Trinidad.

BEFORE MLS: Played for six seasons in Honduras' top division, Liga Nacional ... began his career with CD Motagua in 2002, playing two full seasons with Los Mimados ... in 2004, moved to Universidad before a two-year stint with Hispano (2005-07) ... signed with Olimpia prior to the 2007 season before signing with the Revs.

HONDURAS NATIONAL TEAM: Has earned four caps for the Honduras National Team as of Jan. 1, 2010 ... represented Honduras during the 2007 UNCAF Nations Cup, the biennial regional championship of the seven Central American CONCACAF countries ... called into camp ahead of the 2009 UNCAF Nations Cup.

PERSONAL: Nicknamed "Pipo" … Castro and his wife Glenda have two children, Alessandro Mauricio (4) and Katerine Yanel (3).
