2012: Selected by the Fire in the Stage One Draft of the 2012 MLS Re-Entry Process. Made 26 appearances for D.C. United, scored seven goals and added three assists over 1,470 minutes, helping D.C. United reach the Eastern Conference Final. Santos started and played the full 90 minutes of D.C. United's 3-1 loss to the Houston Dynamo in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Final Nov. 11.
2011: After being traded to FC Dallas on August 2, Santos played 11 matches (nine starts), tallying two goals and one assist in 726 minutes of action. The Brazilian forward came in as a substitute in the playoffs, playing the last 17 minutes of Dallas’ last match. Prior to his trade, Santos scored six goals and one assist for Toronto FC. The experienced attacker started 15 of 19 matches played with the Reds, registering 1,248 minutes on the field.
2010: Santos joined Toronto FC on July 9, 2010, making his debut the next day for the club. He scored his first goal in the Carlsberg Cup against Bolton Wanderers on July 21. The Paracambi, Brazil native played professionally in Brazil, Tunisia, Libya and Israel before joining MLS. He was last with Chivas USA before the Reds.
2009: Made his MLS debut one day after signing with Chivas USA, assisting on the second goal in a 2-0 win over Toronto. Played in eight games (seven starts) after joining Chivas USA on 8/21, scoring one goal and one assist. Maicon Santos scored a goal in the first leg of the 2009 MLS Cup playoffs against the Galaxy in a 2-2 draw on 11/1.
Other Professional Experience
Santos made his professional debut with Rio de Janeiro-based Madureira Esporte Clube in 2004, playing with the Série C club for two years. Since 2006, Maicon has played for clubs in Tunisia, Libya, and Israel.
