Jacob Peterson

2012: Peterson played in 23 matches for Sporting Kansas City during the regular season. Peterson joined the team on January 19th, coming off a stint with the San Jose Earthquakes. Peterson’s first point with Sporting KC came in the form of a game-winning assist against Toronto FC on June 16. He also tallied the clinching goal in Sporting's 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Union in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup semifinals on July 11th (Video). Additionally, Peterson notched four goals during the 2012 MLS regular season including Sporting KC's lone goal in 1-1 draw versus the Seattle Sounders FC on June 20th (Video). Peterson next scored in Sporting KC's 3-1 victory over the Montreal Impact at Saputo Stadium (Video) before earning the game-winner on July 14 in a 2-0 victory at Columbus Crew Stadium (Video). Peterson’s most recent goal came in the season finale in a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union. Peterson earned AT&T Goal of the Week honors of week 33 for the strike (Video).

2010: MLS: Peterson started in 15 of the 24 games he played in, logging 1,267 minutes.  He scored one MLS goal, against Columbus Crew in a 2-2 draw on October 16. He made his Toronto FC debut as a sub in the home opener against the Philadelphia Union on April 15. 2009: MLS: Appeared in 23 games, 12 starts, playing in 1,131 minutes with 2 goals and 2 assist...Suffered a torn ACL in his right knee on Sept. 23 and missed the remainder of the season…Registered game winning assist vs. Toronto FC (9/5)…Recorded his second goal of the season vs. New York (7/25)…Played 64 minutes in friendly vs. Club America (7/15)…Scored his first goal of the season vs. Chicago (7/4)…Tallied first assist of the season vs. D.C. United (6/20)…Played in all 90 minutes at Seattle (5/26) in second U.S. Open Cup play-in match…Played in all 120 minutes at LA (4/7) in U.S. Open Cup play-in match…Made first start of the season in home opener vs. Kansas City (3/28).

2008: MLS: Appeared in 17 games with 10 starts…Scored his only goal of season vs. DC United 5/44 that helped lead the Rapids to a 2-0 victory…The 53rd minute strike was nominated for MLS Goal of the Year…Played in 790 minutes for the Rapids Reserves and recorded an assist.

2007: MLS: Played in 24 games, making a team-high 14 substitute appearances...He scored one goal in 2007 on June 28 against DC.

2006: MLS: Made his professional debut playing 21 minutes on April 8 vs. Columbus…Scored his first goal on May 20 at LA…Recorded his first assist on June 3 at Chivas USA…Recorded his second assist on July 4 vs. New England…Scored his second goal on July 20 vs. Chivas; Recorded his third assist on Sept 9 at KC…Scored his third goal on Oct 7 vs. NY…Scored his fourth goal on October 14, 2006 at HOU...2006 Playoff Highlights: Played 71 minutes in WCSS Game 1…Played 74 minutes in WCSS Game 2…Played 16 minutes in Conference Final.

International: Traveled to Japan with the US U-23 National Team for two games in February 2007…Peterson was a standout member of the United States Under-20 and Under-17 National teams…His participation at the international level includes four games in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship.

Other Professional Experience: In November 2007, Peterson traveled to Spain with the Generation adidas team, where he helped fight out at 0-0 draw against the Real Madrid Reserves.

College: Was a semi-finalist for the Hermann Trophy award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top college soccer player, while with Indiana…Won 2 National Championships with the Hoosiers in 2003 and 2004, and scored a goal in both National Championship games.
